Apply for Sponsorship

Once you complete your 100-hour pre-licensing course, you will need to apply for sponsorship with your chosen brokerage through the Ohio LPI.

Once You're Licensed, Next Step is to Join the Local Board

RAGC, Realtor Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, is the local MLS and Board for Cincinnati. Once you are licensed you will need to join RAGC.

The time required to complete the course varies among agents. Some finish in as little as 60 days, while others may take up to six months to pass the PSI Exam from the start of the course. We recommend progressing through the course and the entire process as quickly as possible. Since you will be tested on the material covered on the first day, it’s helpful to retain that information while it is still fresh in your mind.

After you pass your Pre-Licensing Final you will need to sit for your PSI Exam. The PSI Exam is composed of a variety of multiple-choice questions about real estate law and the ethics and professional responsibilities of the real estate industry. You must pass the Ohio Exam and the National Exam.

Your first step is to complete the Scholarship Application ($99) and that covers the cost of your pre-licensing program through Kaplan University. Next expense is your sponsorship application ($81) then background check (~$55). At onboarding you’ll purchase E&O insurance and join the board.

Meeting the Ohio real estate salesperson license requirements is simple: you must be at least 18, have a high school diploma, and pass both a background check and the licensing exam. Finalize your eligibility by securing sponsorship from a licensed Ohio real estate broker and you’re ready to practice!

You must score a 70% or higher on both sections of the exam. The test is administered by PSI and consists of 120 multiple-choice questions split into an 80-question national portion and a 40-question Ohio law portion. If you pass one section but fail the other, you have 4 months to retake and pass the failed portion without rewriting the whole exam.

A real estate license alone does not legally allow you to buy or sell property in Ohio—you must affiliate with a sponsoring broker. KW Realty Services provides newly licensed agents with world-class training, one-on-one mentorship, and cutting-edge technology. We don’t just help you clear the ODRE hurdles; we provide the exact framework you need to build a highly profitable, sustainable real estate business from day one.

KWRS has a monthly fee of $95 and an annual KWRI fee of $25. Your E&O will be an annual fee of around $350 starting in March each year.
